15:30 - 15/08/2010 - Watching Star Wars on a Sunday

There's obviously something about live and working in London that stops me updating this site. I wonder what, could it be the ~halving of my free time? Could it be that my job requires me to use my brain reasonably for 8 hours a day before I get to think about other things? Maybe it's that because I work on websites all day and week long I don't really want to do anymore or perhaps it's that living with my girlfriend can be distracting!

Okay, I've had my whine now, the other option is of course just that I'm no longer quite so bothered about my online presence! Although when I look at the source of this site it makes me a cringe a little from what I've learnt in the last year and a bit, so that might motivate me to rewrite the HTML.

Put together something for my friend Fozzie yesterday which was qutie fun, took me disturbingly long just to recreate something in decent HTML compared to a template I got pasted at me, although I did spend about an hour trying to look for a JS library that effectively handles audio and video files cross browser. There's nothing about that I could find, I'll just have to wait for Sublime Video and hope it's free for non-profit, although I doubt it.

I can heartly recommend the The Art of Game Design if your interested in, practice as a hobby or are lucky enough to be employed in game design. There are sample chpaters on the site if need convincing. I'm just trying to decide if I want to buy the cards, not a lot of point at the moment though, don't really have a framework in which to make any games. Orge3D is promising but I need to develop it a bit to get it into a useable engine, and NS2 isn't really usable in it's current state (currently in alpha, needs a lot of optimisation and server work before it's really usable) even though it promises to be good for modding once it's finished, and is going to be far prettier than anything I could build!
